OSAKA SEALING PRINTING CO., LTD. has joined the preparatory group for the establishment of the label circulation association "J-ECOL (Japan Earth Conscious Labeling)", which was launched on June 17, 2022.

J-ECOL

About J-ECOL

"J-ECOL" was established with the aim of building a recycling scheme for stickers, labels, release paper, etc. throughout the entire sticker and label industry, and to popularize and promote this scheme. The aim is to respond to the circular economy that is advancing SDGs while working to reduce the environmental impact throughout the entire supply chain surrounding stickers and labels.
As of November 1, 2022, in addition to the four founding members, Osaka Sealing Printing Co., Ltd., Sato Corporation, Oji Tack Co., Ltd., and Lintec Corporation, seven other companies are members: Toppan Infomedia Co., Ltd., Toppan Forms Co., Ltd., Avery Dennison Japan Materials Co., Ltd., Japan Pulp and Paper Co., Ltd., Maruu Adhesive Co., Ltd., Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd., and Nissei Sangyo Co., Ltd.

■ Background and purpose of our participation in J-ECOL

OSAKA SEALING PRINTING CO., LTD. has formulated a "Code of Conduct for SDGs." We aim to establish our business while solving social issues, and are working to provide activities and products and services aimed at realizing a sustainable society. However, when it comes to release paper for stickers and labels, there is still no system in place to recycle resources, even though there is a demand for it.
Our company has been working to build a resource circulation system, but there are limitations to building a circulation system through services provided by individual companies alone, and there are also issues with profitability. In order to resolve these issues, it is necessary to go beyond the boundaries of printing companies and suppliers and raise awareness among users throughout the industry. We decided to join this organization in order to work on building a circulation scheme for the entire sticker and label industry.

■ Future developments

As a member of "J-ECOL," OSAKA SEALING PRINTING CO., LTD. has made the circulation of release paper its top priority in order to demonstrate its value, and will work to establish recycling technologies and collection schemes.
J-ECOL will become a general incorporated association and begin operations in 2023, launch its material recycling business in 2024, and establish the collection of release paper from sticker and label manufacturing and recycling products in 2025, with the aim of building a circular scheme in the sticker and label industry.
