Generally, thermal paper has the ability to change color when heated, and when it is heated at high temperatures such as by boiling, it turns black and the characters printed on it become invisible. Therefore, thermal paper was considered unsuitable for heating such as boiling, but we have developed Thermal label that does not turn black even when boiled in hot water at about 100°C. The printed part of the label can be read with the same density as before boiling.

■ Technology that made the impossible possible

Thermal paper was previously taboo for high temperature heating such as boiling, but we have developed a thermal paint (patent pending) that does not turn black even in high temperature environments such as boiling water, and we have selected a material with improved heat resistance and a coating layer that will not peel off from the base material even when boiled, thanks to the coating technology that the OSP Group has cultivated over many years.

■ Improved work efficiency

In the manufacturing process, food manufacturers fill bags with prepared foods, meat, pickles, sauces, and other ingredients, and then boil them at high temperatures to sterilize them. After boiling, Thermal label are attached to the products after they have cooled down, so they do not change color due to the heat. However, lowering the temperature takes time, which can lead to issues such as reduced work efficiency. However, this product does not change color even when heated, so there is no need for a cooling process, improving work efficiency. In addition, when boiling during in-store cooking in retail stores or cooking in restaurants, the labels do not change color, so they can be used without losing the markings necessary for product management and inventory management.

In the food industry, the demand for ready-to-eat products such as retort foods and prepared meals is growing along with the expansion of the ready-to-eat market. In the midst of this, we began development in response to one of the challenges facing food manufacturers' production sites and retail store cooking sites: the need to "improve the efficiency of production operations while ensuring quality."
