OSAKA SEALING PRINTING CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Tennoji-ku, Osaka City; President: Matsuguchi Tadashi) is pleased to announce that it signed a memorandum of understanding on collaboration in the "Mt. Ibuki Vegetation Restoration Project" with Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
The purpose of this agreement is for OSAKA SEALING PRINTING CO., LTD. and Maibara City to utilize their respective resources while protecting local resources for future generations and promoting sustainable measures against global warming and nature conservation. Maibara City is home to Osaka Sealing Printing's Shiga Factory and the headquarters of OSP LABEL STOCK CO.,LTD., which manufactures and sells tack paper, and is a city with which the group has deep ties. We have come to cooperate in order to become a partner in the city's efforts.
■ Donation of stickers
Osaka Sealing Printing has donated a total of 14,000 stickers with eight different designs of the project logo to be used for awareness-raising and promotion of the "Mt. Ibuki Vegetation Restoration Project" by utilizing the printing and seal processing technology it has developed over many years. The design depicts Mt. Ibuki, the deer that inhabit it, and flowers on the palm of a human hand, evoking the image of the optimal balance between people, animals, and plants.
■ Mt. Ibuki Vegetation Restoration Project
Mount Ibuki, which straddles Maibara City, Shiga Prefecture and Gifu Prefecture, is the highest peak in Shiga Prefecture, boasting an elevation of 1,377 meters, and is also selected as one of Japan's 100 most famous mountains. The mountaintop is a popular tourist spot in the prefecture, with a flower garden designated as a national natural monument, and rare plants, including endemic species, growing there. However, in recent years, the environment has become more favorable for Japanese deer to live in due to global warming and reduced snowfall. Furthermore, the number of Japanese deer has increased due to a decrease in hunters, resulting in the devastation caused by the deer eating valuable plants and trampling, leading to the denudation of slopes, and the ongoing crisis of soil erosion and slope collapse. In order to restore the nature-rich Mount Ibuki, we will work to strengthen the capture of Japanese deer, prevent the collapse of the southern slopes, restore vegetation, and conserve vegetation in the summit area.
