OSAKA SEALING PRINTING CO., LTD. is pleased to announce that it has succeeded in developing a "biomass adhesive label" with a biomass content of over 10%.

This product is an environmentally friendly product that maintains its adhesive properties while using more than 10% biomass-derived raw materials as part of the water-based emulsion type adhesive. There are two types: a "strong adhesive type for frozen foods" that can be applied at low temperatures, and a "removable type" that can be applied and peeled off. We plan to apply for the biomass mark for both. We will continue to establish a production system in preparation for sales in the future.

Biomass Adhesive Label

■ Development background and history

In the label market, there is an increase in labels that use solvent-based or hot melt-type biomass adhesives, but there are few products that use water-based emulsion-type adhesives. Therefore, we decided to conduct research and development on a water-based emulsion type with a biomass content of 10% or more.
We have started developing two types of environmentally friendly products, the first of which is a "strong adhesive type that does not peel off even at low temperatures" that uses biomass materials to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and the second of which is a "removable type" that takes into consideration waste separation and collection, as environmentally friendly products that do not emit VOCs by using a water-based emulsion.

■ Achieves 10% biomass content and adhesive properties

Since the adhesive properties could not be maintained simply by replacing petroleum-derived materials with biomass-derived materials, we conducted research into the compounding of the materials to be used based on data we had accumulated over many years. We were able to achieve adhesive properties almost equivalent to those of conventional adhesive labels that use petroleum-derived materials.

■ Solving social issues

Because it has a strong adhesive that does not peel off even at low temperatures, it can also be used on frozen foods. By adopting this product for product labels, companies that handle food and other frozen products can contribute to environmental issues such as reducing carbon dioxide emissions.
In addition, after obtaining biomass mark certification, you will be able to display the biomass mark on your labels, allowing you to demonstrate your company's commitment to addressing environmental issues.

Future Initiatives

As we begin selling our products, we will also continue researching products with an even higher biomass content, aiming to expand our lineup.
