OSAKA SEALING PRINTING CO., LTD. (Head office: Tennoji-ku, Osaka City; President: Matsuguchi Tadashi), a member of the OSP Group, is pleased to announce that it has endorsed the concept of the "Sabani Project," one of the learning projects of the National Okinawa National College of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "Okinawa College"), and has sponsored stickers and panels.

Okinawa Prefecture has a traditional culture known as "haarii," in which people row traditional fishing boats to pray for safe voyages and bountiful catches. The "Sabani" refers to one of these traditional fishing boats. The "Sabani Project" utilizes sabanis as a tourist attraction, raising revenue to partially fund the operation of the "Sakura Classroom (formerly Nago Children's Cafeteria)." Students from Okinawa National College of Technology and the Sakura Classroom worked with children to attach small, seven-colored round stickers to the sails of the sabani and create pixel art of illustrations drawn by the children at the Sakura Classroom. Our company supported the project by providing 7,000 stickers and educational panels. The launching ceremony for the completed sabani was held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Shioya Bay in Ogimi Village, Kunigami District, Okinawa Prefecture.

■Launching ceremony

Approximately 40 people participated, including students from Okinawa National College of Technology and business people. Everyone offered prayers toward the direction where the gods of the sea and the land (Shioya Bay) reside, praying for the safe voyage of the Sabani "Igimitida" (Igimit: Ogimi, Tida: Sun) and the success of the Sabani Project.

■ Thoughts from students participating in the project

*I've loved the ocean in Okinawa since I was a child, and I wanted to be involved with the Sabani, so I decided to participate in this project. It was also an opportunity to learn about Okinawa's traditional culture. Today's launching ceremony is a milestone, and I would like to work towards making the children's cafeteria self-sustaining and profitable.

*I volunteer at Sakura Classroom every week, and it has become a part of my life. I get energy from the children's growth and smiles, and it's my own motivation. This time, it was hard to recreate a large illustration by sticking many small stickers together, but I was happy when I finished it together with the children.

■OSP Group representative's thoughts: "Sustainable support for our children's future!"

I was impressed by the efforts of many people, including students from Okinawa National College of Technology, to support the activities of Sakura Classroom in the summer of 2023, in collaboration with industry and academia, with the aim of creating a brighter future for the children. Since then, I have visited Sakura Classroom several times, and I have felt that it is a place of hope and emotional support for the children. I hope that by supporting their activities, we can foster the children's humanity and encourage them to take independent steps. When schools and companies collaborate and utilize their strengths, as in this case, the possibilities are endless. We will continue to consider sustainable support in the future.

■ What led to supporting the Sabani Project?

The opportunity to support the project arose from a connection with a graduate of Okinawa National College of Technology who joined Osaka Sealing Printing, and the company learned of the school's community contribution activities and was touched by the passion of the people involved. The project's goal is to help children discover the joy of learning, develop content that will help them form connections with the local community, and is a sustainable initiative that includes building a local network, so the company decided to support the project.

■ Support for Sakura Classroom so far

The malt dregs generated during the brewing process of Orion Beer were used to produce business cards using recycled paper, which was partially replaced with raw materials for paper, and Osaka Sealing Printing sold them to Orion Beer Co., Ltd. A portion of the proceeds was donated to Sakura Classroom, which provides educational support for children and a place for local interaction. The company continues to contribute to society by reducing environmental impact through the effective use of waste and by supporting children's education.

■OSP Group's Sustainability

The OSP Group practices "sustainable management," which aims to realize a sustainable society by responding to various environmental changes and balancing business activities with the resolution of social issues. With the harmony of economy, society, and the environment in mind through its business activities, the group is working toward the SDGs under four sustainability policies: 1) the environment, 2) customers, 3) contribution to society and the community, and 4) human resource development and participation. The group has also focused on SDG activities, such as supporting connections between businesses and welfare and registering universities as SDG partners. This sponsorship was also part of the 3) contribution to society and the community initiative, which aims to "actively promote the harmony between job satisfaction and growth through SDG activities."
