■About the launch ceremony

Epson has officially announced the global release of its new product, the L-5034. Since the launch of the L-4000 series, Epson has been working on solutions business for water-based pigment inkjet printing in the label printing market, leveraging its unique strengths to improve production efficiency and shorten delivery times for high-mix, short-run printing. Now, the company has launched a new product that combines high image quality and high speed, enabling high-value-added printing.

■ Osaka Sealing Printing's efforts to introduce digital printing machines

Our company is currently introducing SurePress, with 40 units in operation at four factories. Recently, we have achieved automation by connecting it to our own post-processing machine. We have been involved in the new product "L-5034" since the test run stage. In the future, we would like to utilize this new product to further automate our factories while improving print quality.

■ Reasons for proactively introducing "SurePress"

• - We develop and manufacture everything from ink and printheads to software in-house, ensuring that we maintain consistent technology across the board.
• - We can also collaborate on color matching for our own manufactured substrates and color finders, as well as software development.
• - As it is a domestic manufacturer, maintenance and other services are quick and flexible.
• -Another attractive feature is that it has a natural texture without the shine that is unique to UV digital printing.
  →As our company transitions from analog to digital printing, we place importance on a natural finish.
• - Water-based ink is almost odorless, which is an advantage when printing on food products as it reduces odor.
  →We manufacture a large number of food labels and place great importance on ensuring that the smell of the printing ink does not affect our customers' products.
• - By operating unmanned at night, we can efficiently handle a wide variety of small lots.

■ Past collaborations with Seiko Epson and Epson Sales

In 2017, Osaka Sealing Printing, Seiko Epson, and Epson Sales jointly established a printing automation study team with the aim of realizing the "OSP version of Industry 4.0." Osaka Sealing Printing then developed a workflow and production information management system for digital printing, and Seiko Epson and Epson Sales customized the system to suit Osaka Sealing Printing's production system, using that information for automatic printing, color matching, and simultaneous printing of processing information. The new machine being released this time is a digital label printing machine that improves production efficiency and achieves short delivery times for high-mix, short-lot printing, and is capable of high-quality printing while keeping costs down.
