A biomass boiler is a heat source device that burns waste and solid fuels, unlike heavy oil-based fuels, to produce steam and hot water. The OSP Group has installed this biomass boiler at its Shiga Second Factory.
In this factory, waste generated during the production of sealing products is processed in a crusher, and together with waste plastic, it is processed and produced into a recycled fuel called fluff. The completed fluff is temporarily stored in a storage tank and is burned in a boiler when needed, and the high-temperature steam generated at that time is used in the factory as hot air for drying coaters, etc.
The introduction of biomass boilers has made it possible to "effectively use resources" and "reduce CO2 emissions." This equipment has reduced fossil fuel consumption by approximately 274,000 m3 per year.
