There are two types of product shipments: "manufacturing shipments" where products are shipped from the factory to the delivery destination, and "inventory shipments" where products are shipped from the storage warehouse to the delivery destination.
The OSP Group has worked to reduce transport distances for both of these shipping methods.
First, regarding "manufacturing and shipping," we previously shipped from each factory all over Japan, but we did not know the distance to the delivery destination or the shipping volume.
Manufacturing at a factory close to the delivery destination leads to a reduction in transport distance. Therefore, we investigate the contents of shipments from each factory to determine how many shipments are transported over long distances of over 500 km, and work to reallocate production bases with consideration for production efficiency and transport distance, thereby reducing transport distance.
Next, regarding "inventory shipping," we have previously shipped products nationwide from a warehouse in Gifu Prefecture.
However, in order to reduce transport distances and ensure business continuity in the event of a disaster, we established a warehouse in Ibaraki Prefecture as an inventory base for shipping to eastern Japan.
Through these efforts, we will reduce transport distances and cut CO2 emissions from transport.
